Here is a revision of my original homepage. I tried to play around with a different color scheme and also a more funky layout version. Is it working? Is it not working? Is my original color scheme more better suited for the knitting concept? Comments Appreciated :)
Most importantly in the web design planning process, keep your audience in mind - who they are and what sorts of things would put them off if they were experiencing your site.

I think you're making good moves with the colors. It still seems flat for what I think you are articulating is a sort of quirky, rich audience. i think some texture or something in the background would be of benefit.
